On Turning 30

By Jason

I’m now 30. It’s a pretty arbitrary point, but it’s as good a time to reflect on my life as any. For a long time I’ve had an informal list of life goals that I’ve thought I could accomplish. As I always say, if something is worth doing, it’s worth creating a spreadsheet. So here it is, my current list of life goals along with status updates and somewhat fictional percentages:

Here’s a link to the whole spreadsheet.

So, how am I doing so far?

At least I didn’t turn my life into a gantt chart :)

Congrats, and happy birthday! Looks like you’ve done pretty well so far.

Based on your percentage completed you are at 32.5% and at an age of 30 you are ahead in raw mathematical terms if you plan to live to 100.
I think you should give yourself some bonus points for having an extra cute kid though….
    Oh, and happy birthday!

I think when you teach us at work, it’s kind of like teaching at a college level. Wait, I take that back – some of us are more like middle schoolers.

Happy birthday! Please stop getting online and enjoy your paternity leave
